First I want to say that I am very sorry to everyone who had a bad experience with SIRVA. But I also want to say thank you for sharing this. I have never heard of SIRVA so this is helpful. Plus I want to help home buyers who are moving into the area and Home owners who are looking to sell their house as they relocate to another city and state. So my question is for everyone who have made a comment here is who will you recommend as a Relocation Company? http://www.buyandsellnewhomes.com

Many of the answers here seem to be dated so I would like to give an updated view. SIRVA is a disaster for relocating people. Their preferred lenders for purchasing a new home ask for double and triple documentation of things a homeowner simply doesn't possess. At one point they asked us for a copy of a deposited check. Who makes and keeps a copy of a check that they deposit? They also questioned us as to why the lender ran a credit check on us - ummmm, maybe because you recommended them as a our new lender on our new house? On the selling side, the people and the process that they use are unqualified and simply incompetent. Our original home inspector was only qualified enough to say that certain things "were beyond his expertise" and ordered another 8 specialized inspections. Who orders 8 inspections? These 8 additional inspectors found that the reasons the additional inspections were requested were not valid. However, their "expert" inspections found additional "problems" that needed to be corrected before the Guaranteed Corporate Buyout could proceed. These remediations ranged from picky to absolutely unnecessary. A little history to our home - it was a 19 year old custom ranch that was inspected upon completion, inspected again when it was resold, inspected again when we purchased it and the inspected AGAIN when we remodeled it 2 years prior to this process. The town inspector issued a Certificate of Occupancy. It passed ALL inspections - structural, plumbing, electrical, HVAC. Now, SIRVA inspectors are telling us that they all have problems. So we are spending additional money on repairs that are only necessary for their "process" and not really required for any other realistic reason. Had they employed a qualified inspector (or simply used the town inspector and previous inspection reports), this unmitigated disaster could have been avoided. But I don't think that is the point. I believe that SIRVA does not want to purchase any homes if they can avoid it. Our "counselor" on more than one occasion recommended that we opt out of the Guaranteed Corporate buyout and continue to try to sell the house on our own. If they are forced to purchase the home, the buyout price is ridiculously lower than the value of the home. The appraisal numbers that they used were over $100,000 LESS than the market analysis that was done 5 months earlier! By their "process" they conveniently discarded they original appraisal that was done by an appraiser of our choice. Then they offer an appeal process that is handled internally by them. Can you guess what the result of their internal audit will provide? If you can't, it's more nonsensical double-talk rife with inaccuracies and expert opinions that they pay for. This appears to be a large scale scam that this company perpetuates on vulnerable people that are being forced to relocate for work. And it's lucrative for them. They will make over $100,000 from continually nit-picking and low-balling us through their "process" which we had no choice but to use.

My company works with Sirva quite often. I have not heard of any complaints from Buyers or Sellers and the company is easy to work with and to contact. I would have to say that if you are having a problem with them, try to talk it out. They have always been more than happy to help a buyer or seller work through problems with agents, or, worst case, re-assign them to a different agent. We have always been able to work through the difficulties and end up with a great relationship with the buyer or seller.

They suck as movers for American Greeting for sure. Son's start date is Monday, his "meeting call" to set him up with a meeting with T.J. is Friday He's been put off twice. I moved him from college to home just to get his stuff out of his apartment at college.

If you are having issues with your relocation company, the place to start is with your actual relocation counselor. Relocation companies like SIRVA and others do not find agents that will list your house for the lowest amount automatically. We as agents have to complete a lengthy report with a minimum of 3 active listings who you will compete against for a buyer and 3 that have recently sold. We then have to estimate a list price and a sales price and they must be within 5% of each other and we must be within a 5% range of what the second agent recommends or you might be meeting with a third listing agent. The relocation companies have requirements on their agents that they are full time, in the business a minimum of two years and do a minimum of $2,000,000 in transactions annually. Any relocation company requires both accountability and a tremendous amount of paperwork from all of their agents. As far as representing a buyer, you should contact both your Realtor and the counselor immediately over the phone and follow up in writing for assistance. They need to know if someone keeps cancelling their appointments. That is not the customer service that is expected out of any of the parties involved.

I have worked with them before and have found them to be arrogant and pushy with agents. If this is the company you are forced to work with, they very often get into the act after you have chosen an agent. Then they push the agent into paying a very hefty percentiage to handle the listing and sale. They seem to have a high turnover of counselors and the counselors demand weekly written reports. As an agent our job is to get the property sold for the highest value we can in the shortest period of time. Sirva requres that you talk to them and not the homeseller when discussing offers. The end result is that you spend 60-90 days with the wrong price and then they pull the listing and lower the price to what you recommended all along. Sirva doesn't listen to their own agents.

We are in the process of relocation with Sirva and it has been a terrible experience. We have relocated four times so we are not inexperienced with the whole process. Before his company used Prudential and we didn't have any problem with them. Our "counselor" is young and I believe inexperienced. He constantly uses the very annoying phrase that some inspector will be "reaching out to you". I finally had a gut full of it and asked if they would be calling, emailing, mailing, or FedExing? I had had a real estate license in two states so I also know about some of the practices that are done with the agents they let you choose from. They sent one "Sirva trained real estate agent" that showed up with a shaved head and tattoos all over her arms along with spike heels. I had never seen a professional real estate agent dresses like that when I worked as an agent. I did NOT appreciate her spike heels on my beautiful hard wood floors. I know how to do a CMA and the comps she used were not comparable. So we had to list our home much lower than we wanted to because of her low price she submitted. I'm thankful I found this page because maybe by reading about the problems that others had at the end, we can be on guard about those things. And for the buyer who complained about a dirty house, I can tell you that we cleaned the house spotlessly before we left town but I now live in a different state and can't control what real estate agents and their clients may be doing when they go through the house now. My husband has to go back to the previous job to do some training so he will go back and see how things are now. A home that is empty is going to get a little dusty. I've moved into plenty of homes that weren't part of a relocation process that weren't as clean as I would have liked. Some people that are being offered a relocation package are high level professionals that really want to get a decent price for their previous home, doing their best in a difficult situation to leave their home "showing ready".

TOTAL NIGHTMARE, stay away from SIRVA relocation company, this company is a SCAM. After 20+ home inspections by their " Specialized Home inspecting team", spending more than $25K on totally "UNNECESARY" repairs and being forced on accepting a low ball GPO (Or file for bankruptcy as I can't financially hold two mortgages) and now, 5 days before the GPO expiration date I got this email: "Inspection not clear- "Sealant joints have not been properly tooled" really??? This is a fraud.... Not to mention that their Van Lines destroyed more than 90% of my households and they just called "Normal tear and wear"... I will initiate legal action against this company, it is a SCAM

I would not use Sirva or Allied Pickfords. Once they take your shipment, they seem to do what is cheapest for them and leave you sitting until they decide to deliver. I would find another moving company.

We had a similar bad experience in working with SIRVA upon relocating out of NJ and thankfully managed to sell without going through their low-ball offer. They also used a professional inspector who identified "issues" and recommended "additional inspections" that was driving up costs, thankfully for my ex-employer's tab. Their business model extracts a share of the realtor's commission, which drives their interest to fast sell at any price. For once it is a case of "caveat vendor" and not buyer beware. I feel for anyone who is forced to work with such a company and hope that you can avoid the worst consequences of their "services".

All together for my response to be not viewed as any sort of "defamation," I will try my hardest to just depict what transpired, attempting to use as couple of enthusiastic words as could reasonably be expected. At the same time, now that its out in the open I am truly furious, so my remark could have a tendency to be to a degree "one-sided". Make your own judgment in the wake of perusing this back rub. In light of what transpired, I must say they are not exceptionally proficient. I would not prescribe them to any of my companions. We were purchasers of a house and the merchants utilized SIRVA. When we went into the house for last stroll through, we got so frantic at the filth of the house. There were tracks, foot shaped impressions, soil, dust, and so forth everywhere throughout the floor. Such a large number of throws out - broken & tossed window blinds, unfilled boxes, and so forth - were left over. There were cleans in a large number of the wardrobes and drawers. When we utilized Atlas Van Lines for ourselves to move from California to Ohio, they utilized covers and tapes to cover the floor and stairs so that they would leave no scratches or tracks. It appeared that SIRVA did not cover the floor by any means. Don't they think how new occupants would feel when they come in? So we instantly endeavored to achieve SIRVA to request re-cleaning. They didn't reacted to us for two days. In this way, shockingly, the vender's operators (broker) went to our home the following day of the escrow shutting, and she cleaned the house in the interest of that organization. Is this the proper thing? Reference Link: http://vastreamlinemortgage.net/types-of-va-home-loans/
